Switch to Kara
"I was a little nervous about switching aestheticians because I am very anal about how my eyebrows look. Talking with you, you knew exactly what I wanted and shaped my brows perfectly! Every time I come in I am treated as a friend rather than a client and I no longer have to tell you what I want because you already know! I am so happy to have found a great place and someone I can trust. Thanks for doing such a great job!"

Great Knowledge
"I have been seeing Kara for a little over a year now. She is fabulous!! Kara is passionate about skincare and, as a result, continuously educates herself on new products and treatments. She has refined my skincare routine and always has time to address any questions or concerns that I may have. She is also very skilled at waxing. I have been waxing my eyebrows for over ten years now and, like most women, have had some pretty bad experiences. As a result, I don’t trust many people to shape and define my brows. Kara has always done a wonderful job. I won’t go to anyone else. Call Kara – you won’t be disappointed!!”

What to expect from your first Brazilian Wax

I hear it first hand all the time… “what should I expect from my first Brazilian wax”, so I thought I would address most of your questions, concerns and hesitations in regards to Brazilian waxing.

Brazilian – Step 1

If you are reading this you are almost there…. and I promise once a Brazilian convert always a convert ;-) As Gwyneth Paltrow stated the Brazilian wax has changed her life forever in the best possible way!

The Type of Wax used for Brazilians Makes a Difference

I would consider myself an expert at the craft of Brazilian waxing. My waxes are stellar and I only use the best in the marketplace to assure your wax is the least painful experience as possible. If you have had a thong or bikini wax you are practically there. The Brazilian wax is the next step.

Best Hair Length for Brazilian Waxing

The length of the hair is very important with the Brazilian wax. If your hair is too short (less than a ¼ inch) it will not be long enough for the wax to adhere. If the hair is too long (over 1 ½) the hair could possibly mat up more in the wax and make the experience not as enjoyable. My general rule, your length of hair before a Brazilian wax should be about a ½ inch to 1 inch. At this length you will be good to go.

Don’t Shave Before Brazilian Waxing

For all those shavers out there I recommend not shaving for at least 2 and half weeks before a Brazilian wax. For some people the first Brazilian is usually the most difficult. I always tell my clients to stick with it and each wax will only get easier and easier. Over the course of several Brazilians (6 or more) you actually change the hair follicle to have a much finer root. The finer the root the less the pain. Shaving in between will always create and stronger follicle and more discomfort. I recommend to stop shaving now and experience the smoothness you could never achieve with a razor.

Does Brazilian Waxing Hurt?

My number one question is, “will Brazilian waxing hurt”? You will have some discomfort but the results are well worth it! A couple of Advil or Ibuprofen one half hour prior to your Brazilian wax will work wonders. I am precise and quick with my Brazilian waxing and always make the experience as comfortable as possible for my clients.

How Many Brazilian Waxes Has Kara Performed?

I haven’t counted how many Brazilian waxes I have performed, but let’s just say: thousands. I’m always looking for the next best wax and taking advanced Brazilian classes when I can to learn new tips and keep up on trends.

How Long Do Brazilian Waxes Last?

Another question I tend to get is “how long should I expect my wax to last?” The hair grows in three stages: (1) anagen, (2) telegane and (3) catagen phases. For most people their Brazilian wax lasts between 2 and 3 weeks before they start seeing the new “anagen” growth.

What’s a Maintenance Brazilian Wax?

I usually recommend coming in every 3 to 4 weeks for maintenance visits. If you get Brazilian’s regularly then the hair will be finer and they are typically less expensive than your first appointment.

Waxing and Medicines

I regret that I cannot perform waxing services on clients who are taking Accutane, Retin-A, Differin, Tazorac, Renova, or antibiotics. These products sensitize the skin and may cause lifting to occur. For best results, please allow facial hair to be 1/8″ and body hair to be ¼” in length prior to waxing. After waxing please allow 24 hours before any sun exposure. Refrain from tropical waters for at least 48 hours after waxing.
